The Slow Burn Workshop

Don’t burn out, burn slow.

Saturdays, 1 PM ET / 12 PM CT, May 3–24

I’ve been a working writer for nearly 30 years. I’ve published a lot, and I’ve had stretches where I didn’t publish at all. Through all the tumult of my life, writing has never left me and I have never left writing. It sustains me, helps me survive, and helps me heal. I have a decades-long relationship with my writing. It’s not always consistent, but it is constant.

I want to help you build the same thing: a writing practice that lasts, without the pressure of productivity culture. I will demand no word counts from you, and there are no outwardly-imposed goals. You’ll be expected to show up for class, and I’ll offer playful exercises to try between sessions—but no homework, no deadlines.

Out of that, you’ll gain a relationship to writing that fosters engagement and avoids burnout.

I believe writing is about process, not punishment. It’s about trusting your creative rhythm instead of forcing it.

Four weeks of Saturday sessions in May will help you build a writing practice that actually feels good. You’ll explore pacing, momentum, and tricking your brain into finding the joy in writing—even in the worst ruts.

And because writing isn’t something you figure out in just a month, you’ll also have monthly writing gatherings through August, plus a private Discord community to stay connected.

Sliding scale pricing + scholarships available—choose the tier that fits your needs.
