All about the Third Story Workshop
Autumn 2025 session starts in September
What is it?
The Third Story Workshop is an 11-week guided writing experience for anyone ready to reframe the stories they tell about themselves. We meet weekly on Zoom to write, reflect, and support each other through a three-part arc: what it was like, what happened, and what it’s like today.
Rooted in memoir and recovery traditions, this isn’t about publication—it’s about transformation through writing. You’ll get structure, prompts, feedback, and a compassionate community. We close with a 12th, optional celebration week: a space to share your work, raise a toast, and reflect on how far you’ve come.
The Autumn 2025 session will meet at Tuesdays 6:00 pm CT, September 2 – November 11, 2025. (Bonus week on November 18.)

“I’ve taken music classes from good musicians who don’t know how to teach, and I’ve taken computer programming classes from computer programmers who have no idea how to teach. This is not that. This is a course by a very gifted writer who knows exactly what she’s doing. ”
“One of the most beautiful things that happened in this course is our search for truth — in everything, in the way that we speak about our day, in the way that we are supposed to write, how we are showing up.”
“I’ve definitely never really been in a learning environment where anything that you could do was just gravy. Really, all you had to do was show up. And that was actually true and honest and not a trap. ”
